Apple might move into fertility tracking with new temperature sensor

Hardly a week goes by without news about health features from Apple. Last week's news was about the next generation of Apple Watch, which will be unveiled in the second half of 2022.
Apple Watch becomes thermometer
In his Power On newsletter, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman confirms that Apple is building temperature measurement into the new Apple Watch 8.
The body-temperature feature will probably not be as specific as dedicated thermometers, but it could indicate whether the user has a fever.
This feature could be especially exciting for users against the backdrop of the new COVID wave expected for fall and winter.
Apple’s key into fertility tracking
In addition, the feature could enable Apple to enter the fertility tracking market. Shifts in body temperature are an indicator of when women are more likely to get pregnant.
The fertility tracking market is worth about half a billion USD, according to various studies. The entire fertility services market is worth as much as $20 billion.
