Aidar wants to bring the doctor's office home

A few weeks ago, we reported that breathalyzers or e-noses may play a role in the future of digital healthcare. Biomarkers in breath can offer a surprising number of insights and also be detected in a minimally-invasive manner.

The Mouthlab

At TechCrunch, we came across a company developing such a device: Aidar's Mouthlab allows patients to check many vital signs at home that they would normally need to see a doctor for.

For one minute, the user can hold the device and breathe into the mouthpiece. During this time, temperature, respiratory rate, pulse rate, blood pressure, breathing pattern, heart rate, heart rate variability, ECG, oxygen saturation, and lung function are measured.

According to Aidar, this makes the device the missing piece of the puzzle for the further spread of remote health and telemedicine.

MedTech is coming home

Healthcare goes remote, and with it, connected medical technology health devices are becoming very popular these days.

Sensors are becoming cheaper and cheaper, algorithms that analyze data are becoming more and more efficient, and BigTech is bringing more and more innovations to the market through its focus on health data.

Meanwhile, startups such as Equipt Health are even streamlining home medical device fulfillment and logistics to provide more efficient and effective processes for healthcare companies to integrate prescription home medical equipment into their patient care.

Healthcare is coming to the home. And it will be networked, informative, and transparent. We think that's a good thing.
