Which countries are leading in medical innovation?

The research team at medical device prototyping and production company RapidDirect used data from OECD Data Explorer to compare nations’ granted medtech patents and GDP for R&D (USD) to determine the countries leading in medical device patent efficiency. The findings were surprising. For instance, the U.S. was found to generate 25.05 patents per 1,000 R&D GDP, less than half the output of top-ranked Iceland (57.68), despite the U.S. being a global healthcare and innovation leader.
