CT radiation comes with a cost.
A new risk model projects how much long-term cancer risk can be attributed to computed tomography (CT) imaging. Per the model, if current radiation dosing and utilization practices continue, CT-associated cancers could eventually account for 5 percent of all new U.S. cancer diagnoses annually. These findings suggest that we must reevaluate radiation dosage practices and increase access to non-tumorigenic imaging, such as MRI.
