Clinicians’ perspectives on whether the use of digital health tools will exacerbate health inequalities in the future

With a majority of surveyed clinicians agreeing with the statement, we in medtech must ask ourselves what we can do to ameliorate this situation. Key culprits likely include a lack of access to digital health technologies and pricing and marketing geared toward higher-income groups. Other issues mentioned in the Clinician of the Future study were a lack of regulation and the risk of misinformation as connected to health and media literacy. Clearly, working on building trust in technology is not enough—we must design and disseminate digital health tools from the beginning with these inequalities in mind.
